A complete Post Medieval cast lead alloy circular uni-faced token. The token has a raised design of the initial SG on one side, the other side is blank. It is 17.40mm in diameter, 1.50mm thick and weighs 2.8 grams. Object type: BUCKLE
Broad period: POST MEDIEVAL
County: Norfolk
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
Just over half of a post-medieval copper alloy double-looped buckle frame. The surviving loop is D-shaped and the bar is marginally recessed behind the front face,. The other loop was probably trapezoidal or rectangular, cf. Whitehead 2003, 90-1, nos. 561-5. Length >19.5mm. Width 21.5mm. c.1575 - c.1700.
A buckle pin of tapering copper alloy strip found engaged with the bar is too short to have been used with this frame. It has probably been attached accidentally since being found. It fits very loosely and is now detached. Its surface colur is purplish, unlike the frame.
