A silver Roman finger-ring with setting surviving within bezel.
A heavy gem-set silver finger-ring with a circular hoop, broad oval bezel and prominent swollen shoulders. The hoop edges, now rather damaged, are enhanced with a beaded rib moulding and there is a simple moulded swag on each shoulder. The dark blue glass gem, in an oval rubbed-over setting, has bevelled sides and a flat top in which is a worn incuse image of a ?standing figure.
Date: 3rd - 4th century AD.
Dimensions: W. 25.7 mm. Ht. 25.4 mm. Bezel W. 16.3 mm. Internal 16.8 - 17.2 mm. Weight: 13.88 g.

A copper alloy annular buckle with central vertical bar, pin and remains of buckle plate and rivet. The buckle could date from the Medieval to Post Medieval period but is probably late Medieval. The buckle frame is cast and oval in cross section. There is a narrowing of the frame curiously located to the opposing side of the frame from where the pin currently rests. The constriction is 4.04mm in length and at its narrowest point measures 2.42mm in diameter. An incomplete copper alloy Roman skeuomorphic plate brooch in the shape of a shoe-sole dating to the 2nd century. The pin is missing, the loop is incomplete and the brooch has been bent downwards slightly.
The brooch is 30.7mm in length, 7.05mm wide and 7.65mm thick, it weighs 1.81 grams. A slight rim is evident around the edge of the brooch which forms a central recess that is filled with mid green glass or enamel. An incomplete cast copper-alloy steelyard balance arm of Roman date (c.50-300AD).
The fragment consists of the looped terminal and is broken at the junction with the graduated bar. It is broadly sub-rectangular in plan with two complete & one incomplete projecting loops on the external edges; one (incomplete) positioned on the upper edge (near to the break), one on the terminal / end, and the third on the lower edge (next to the complete terminal).

An early medieval silver sceat, Series E (Secondary type), c.720-40, probably minted in the Netherlands.
The obverse design belongs to Metcalf's variety C, although the obverse is different. Examples of the same obverse/reverse combination are listed in Metcalf and Op den Velde's sub-variety e (based on Variety C), especially numbers 1761-8.
