Fragment of a rim from a Roman Oxford clay mortarium dating 43 AD to 410AD. It is made of a white fabric with black trituration grits. Measures 38x14x12mm and weighs 4.95g. Original diameter measured c410mm, based on 2.5% of the rim. The Roman fort at Wroxeter is a mile or so away & it likely the two sites are linked. Many other pottery fragments where found in the vicinity.

A very worn early 18th-century silver post-medieval shilling of Queen Anne, struck at London mint in AD 1711 (Spink 3618). This coin has an 'S-shaped profile' having been bent twice after the manner of a love token, a fate more commonly reserved for sixpences of William III.

A corroded and bent post-medieval cast copper-alloy dress fastener hook-piece (16-17th century AD). It has an oval plate with three loops for attachment: two at the base, protruding to each side, and one at the other end with lateral protrusions at its base giving the effect of a debased trefoil. There is a debased bifurcated knop midway along the long sides; both are now abraded. The tip of the hook has been lost after a straight break. A bent 17th-century cast copper-alloy post-medieval double-looped buckle formed of two trapezoidal loops, incomplete in so far as it is missing its pin. Each loop has a triangular outer edge with central transverse pin groove, and rounded knops at their corners. The frame is flat both surfaces with steep internal and external bevelling between the faces. The sides bend inwards. There is a lobed knop at each end of the pin bar. This latter is trapezoidal in cross-section. Traces of iron corrosion product towards one of its ends suggest at the pin's composition. The frame has a grey/gr…

Button of the 5th (Northumberland) Regiment of Foot, 1782-1836. A central V is surrounded by the inscription NORTHUMBERLAND REGT. within beaded borders. Above, outside the outer border, is a queen's crown; below is a motif similar to a fleur-de-lis with small central lobe and large curled outer lobes. The regiment was given the regional distinction Northumberland in 1782 and became a Fusiliers regiment in 1836, giving the date bracket.

A flat triangular flake of local dark brown flint (revealed by a recent chip) which is all over cream patinated with some Coombe rock deposit. Both convergent margins are flaked to make a point with small removals at the tip as a borer for boring into strong material ie wood with a bifacially blunted notch on one margin towards the tip as a finger and thumb hold with blunting at the opposite end to be comfortable in the hand.
