A lead pot mend of Roman to Post Medieval date. Cast plug to mend a vessel wall of estimated 2-3mm thickness. The object is sub-oval in plan, 34.9mm x 21.1mm. Both sides would of originally been flat, giving an H shaped profile but one side has been folded back on both its edges, giving a current, increased thickness of 15.1mm.

A fragment of a cast copper-alloy possible divider of uncertain date. The artefact is broadly triangular in plan and rectangular in cross section. The artefact expands from the survivng tip and old break towards the centre. At the widest point (11mm thick) the reverse of the artefact is concave and has a shallow recess (16.25mm in length). The artefact has a mid green patina which is pitted in places.

The seal is circular in plan with a sub-rectangular cross section and is comprised of a single disc of metal which is perforated by two holes running across its diameter. The hole would have been for wire or textile ligatures which were used to secure a bag.
The obverse is stamped with the circumferential text Wm GUNSTONE & SONS LT and the reverse is stamped with SHEFFIELD is a straight line across the centre.
The metal is a dark reddish-brown colour and is worn. The seal is 19.4mm in diameter, 5.3mm thick and weighs 5.4g.

An incomplete Early-Medieval (Anglo-Saxon) cast copper-alloy disc brooch (c. AD 400-c. 600). The plate is circular and the pin is missing.
At the front there is a central ring-and-dot motif with a hole at the centre and close to the border are three concentric grooves. Between these grooves and the central ring-and-dot there are four pairs of evenly spaced ring-and-dot motifs. Adjacent to the central ring-and-dot motif and between each pair of ring-and-dots there are small punched 'dots'. Similar 'dots are present on the border.

Seven pieces of iron sheet metal, possibly all from the same object. The pieces were found in the same field as the Early Medieval finds SWYOR-1590A4, SWYOR-14ED88, SWYOR-14A685, SWYOR-148980, SWYOR-146DF7, SWYOR-145073, SWYOR-142DD2, SWYOR-13FF91, SWYOR-EB7AA1 and SWYOR-EB10D8, so there is a possibility they too are Early Medieval. A worn and corroded post-medieval cast copper-alloy uniface mount in the form of an acorn. On the upper face the acorn is moulded and the cup delineated from the nut by a transverse ridge flanked by grooves. The stalk bends to one side as with examples illustrated in Read (2001, 29, 37; refs. 331-334). The reverse features a pair of facing pointed lugs suggestive of a c. 17th-century date. On the obverse of this artefact it has a largely variable mid-green patina.

A complete lead cloth seal of post-medieval date. The seal is of the two disc type sealed by a central rivet and linked by an integral stem. The upper disc bears traces of a now indistinct design and the lower disc is undecorated. Traces of organic material, most probably leather, remain between the two discs.
The metal is a mid whitish-brown colour and is worn. The seal is 23mm long (including stem), 18.6mm in diameter, 3.6mm thick and weighs 5.1g.

An iron sword guard probably from an Early Medieval sword. The guard would have fitted on the blade between the grip and the top of the blade. It is solid and is rectangular in section with convex sides. In plan it is a pointed oval. There is a slot through the centre of the guard for the blade of the sword. The slot is longer on one face. On the shorter face is it 36.9mm long and 3.9mm wide.
Compare database record ESS-D45534 and BH-902F70 which date from AD 800 - 1000. A similar date is suggested for this example.

An iron drawknife of Early Medieval date. The form is distinctively Early Medieval, very similar to number 2449 from Flixborough (Life and Economy in Early Medieval Flixborough, Evans and Loveluck), but without the decorative notch. The blade is thickest in the centre, has a straight blade and a convex back with a rivet hole at each end. This is different from Medieval and later examples which have a tang at each end. There are large lumps of corrosion on one face of the blade which are striated, and may be mineralised wood. The blade is more worn at one end than the other.

An iron blade from a pair of scissors, probably of Post Medieval to Modern date. The loop of the handle is mostly missing. The blade is curved from the pivot to the point to stop the material being cut from forcing the blades apart. This shows a high degree of skill in making the tool. the blade is D shaped in section and tapers from the pivot to the point. There is a circular hole for a rivet at the pivot point. A diagonal stop across the inside of the blade would have prevented the blades crossing each other.

A iron whittle tang knife of Early Medieval date. It is back form Ci using the typology discussed in Life and Economy in Early Medieval Flixborough (originally from The study of Anglo-Scandinavian knives from 16-22 Coppergate, Ottaway, 1984). This can be described as a knife with a straight back except for the tip which is convex. The tip of the blade is missing and the cutting edge is damaged. This can be described as an angle back knife. The tang of the knife is missing and the blade is damaged. The knife is rusty with some post depositional damage. Form A knives date from the 7th - 12th centuries, but were most common in the 8th - early 10th centuries.
