An incomplete cast copper-alloy long brooch of Anglo-Saxon date. It is missing the foot and pin due to old breaks and has evidence of post-depositional wear and corrosion but is otherwise intact. The headplate is lozenge shaped in form, flat and with projecting knops at each corner. These are oval shaped in form and D-shaped in section with rounded ends and possible transverse mouldings although this is uncertain due to their preservation. Description: Silver object inlaid with niello. It is a long oval in shape and made from two components, a sheet silver base and a heavy hollow-cast upper part. The upper part is D-shaped in cross-section, and has relief, engraved and inlaid decoration. To either end is an animal head, both identical. The snouts have narrow rounded ends with a pair of dots for nostrils; these may originally have been set with glass pellets, similar to but smaller than those in the eyes. Lead net sinker. Tubular sinker, made from a rolled rectangle of cast lead sheet of thickness 2.2mm with a clenched seam, and with a central aperture of diameter 4mm. Patinated overall. This technique of fixing a sinker to the selvedge of a net was recorded in Middle Saxon contexts at Flixborough, North Lincs, and other examples are widely reported in the region; this weight was either removed by tearing the net or was discarded along with it. Suggested date: Early Medieval, 750-850. Length: 31.3mm, Width: 14.3mm, Thickness (overall): 10.1mm, Weight: 26.03gms.

A copper-alloy hooked tag of Early Medieval (probably late 8th to 9th century) date. The bottom point of the inverted drop-shaped plate tapers to form a now incomplete hook. The plate has two circular holes at the upper edge which is bi-lobed. Compare LEIC-9FC848 and FAKL-C9E283 on this database.

A worn cast copper-alloy Early-Medieval/Anglo-Scandinavian stirrup mount of Williams' Class B. It comprises a flat, trapezoidal plate with angled flange, moulded front face and slightly concave back face, now slightly bent due to post-depositional damage. The front face is extremely worn to the extent that the decorative motifs can barely be identified. It has a central face, possibly zoomorphic in form, surrounded by five sub-rectangular apertures. A complete cast copper alloy strap end dating from the late Early-Medieval (Anglo-Saxon) to the early Medieval period, (c.850-1200AD). The object has a rectangular plate with a triangular terminal. The object is a one piece strap end with a rectangular slot within the rectangular plate which would have contained the strap. Two rivets remain in situ and would have secured the strap.
