A group of four objects from the same field, though not necessarily deposited together, all of probably Early Medieval date. All four objects are fragments of waste silver, probably evidence of silver working. They are undecorated and have no dating evidence themselves, but are from a known Early Medieval site. There is one angular chunk (9.53mm long, 6.59mm wide and 5.11mm thick, 0.48g). It has a one concave edge which looks as if it was a hole through the piece, but the rest of the piece has now broken across the hole. One face is complete,in width, but broken at bother ends. …

2012 T329 Bassetlaw, Nottinghamshire I have examined an object found at Bassetlaw, Nottinghamshire. It a silver coin that has been converted into a brooch or clothes fastening by the addition of attachments to one side: a round eye that could enable it to be sewn to a garment and a hook. These attachments are still in place and in good condition. A fragment of the coin itself has broken off. A fragment of a silver Post Medieval dress pin; only one terminal end survives. This terminal has a circular ear scoop at its tip (the end is bent) and then a perforated circular hole with a groove extending from the hole along the centre of the shaft towards the scoop on both faces. Below this is a moulded collar - the sides of the rectangular sectioned shaft are indented above and below the plain collar and there are corresponding grooves across the faces. A silver gilt Medieval pin from a brooch dating from about 1250 - 1350 AD. The pin is rectangular in section with a bevelled upper face and tapers to the point. At the other end is a wide transverse collar decorated with a groove and an attachment loop. The loop is also decorated with a groove along its centre, flanked by faint beading. The pin can be compared to 2011 T559. This object fulfils the Treasure Act (1996) in that it contains more than 10% gold or silver and is over 300 years old.
