A post-Medieval (probably 17th century) copper-alloy mount. The central portion of the plate-like mount is trapezoidal. At the top is a pointed-oval projection with a protruding collar at its base; at the bottom of the mount, there is an oval projection. There are two integral rivets on the reverse of the mount, both of which have been deliberately bent vertically outwards. Only the upper rivet survives intact. Much of the original white-metal coating remains on both the convex upper surface and flat underside of the mount. Dimensions: 28.9mm long, 8mm wide, 2.3mm thick. Weight: 3.1g.
