An incomplete Post Medieval cast copper alloy rowel spur frame. The terminal end and approximately two-thirds of one spur arm is missing from an old break. One loop of the terminal end of the second arm and a fragment around the rowel box spindle is also missing, together with the rowel itself. Attached to the remaining circular terminal of the surviving arm is a fragment of the looped fitting that would attach to the leather binding. A copper alloy finger ring, probably of Roman date. The ring has a narrow plain hoop flaring out to plain shoulders supporting a circular bezel. The bezel is decorated by a central four-pointed incised star design surrounded by fine incised lines following the edges of the design, and a further line around the circumference. The angles of the star each contain double parralel fine lines curved in an anti-clockwise direction. The central cavity of the star is empty with some corrosion products. A complete lead alloy uni-faced token, dating to the Post Medieval period. Powell Type 2. This particular token has been bent and cut, which makes identification difficult. It has what appears to be the raised design of the capital letter T with a triangular casting spur to the left and two parallel lines to the right to let the lead flow out when it was cast. The reverse is plain. The token measures 21.33 mm in diameter, 2.08mm thick and weighs 5.9 grams. An elaborate cast copper-alloy Roman strap-fitting, the female part of a 'bar-and-keyhole' strap fastener, probably from a harness (1st century AD). The object is in two, connected parts. The main element is a thick plate which was attached to a strap by way of two integral rivets located towards each end of the lower surface. The plate now measures 35.1mm. It is recessed at one end on its upper surface to accommodate a separate keyhole shaped fitting which slotted into the thickened plate and has a rod travelling through it such that it can hinge. Post Medieval cast copper-alloy double-loop buckle frame. The frame has two oval loops with flat backs and inner sides and rounded, angled, outer sides. The strap bar is narrowed and worn even thinner in the middle. The upper and lower edges at either end of the strap bar have straight outer sides. The pin and buckle plate are missing. The frame is slightly bent in profile and 26.8mm long, 21.8mm wide and 1.9mm thick. It weighs 2.32 grams. Whitehead (2003) illustrates a similar buckle (page 54, No.305) which he dates to c.1500-1650 AD.
