A fragment of a copper alloy Roman brooch, a Headstud variant - Thealby type dating from 100 - 200 AD. The fragment consists of the head, the wings, and the tubular hinge mechanism. The upper bow has a concave surface with raised edges which continue to the top of the brooch. The wings have four vertical ridges on either side. On the reverse of the wings, the tubular hinge mechanism survives, but the axis bar and pin are missing. The reverse of the upper bow is concave at the very top and flattens out rather quickly.
