A complete and slightly damaged post-Medieval cast copper-alloy spherical animal 'crotal' bell (1600-1800 AD). The sub-rectangular suspension loop at the top is 9.07mm high, 12.56mm wide and 6.09.mm thick and has a sub-circular perforation. The upper and lower hemispheres are divided equally by a horizontal circumferential joining rib. At either side of the suspension loop, about half way down the side of the upper hemisphere, is a sound hole. One of the holes is circular and the other is sub-circular. A corroded cast lead rod, perhaps a pencil of medieval or post-medieval date. The object is a long, thin cylinder. It has a circular cross-section with one pointed tip; the other end has been flattened into a wedge shape with rounded corners. This latter has been twisted slightly in profile. This artefact is plain and is a grey/white colour with a heavy patina which covers all other surfaces. Similar pencils have been recorded on this database, e.g. NARC-88EE88, and can be seen illustrated in Egan (1998, 271; fig. 209).

A copper alloy, silver plated contemporary copy of a shilling of Charles I (1625-1649). The forgery is probably based on Group A and Group B shillings, North no's 2216 - 2220. The 'real' Group A and Group B shillings were produced from 1625-1628. The obverse shows a crowned bust facing left with an XI behind the head. The legend is not discernable. The obverse shows a square shield. The reverse legend is not discernable. Diameter: 29.25mm. Weight: 4.54g. Identified from photograph and notes. No further information available.

A cast copper alloy Post Medieval mount. The object is in the shape of an acorn, with a length of stem projecting to the side of the acorn cup. The upper half of the mount represents the acorn and is separated from the lower half by two horizontal, parallel incised lines. The lower half of the body represents the acorn cup. There are two integral rivets on the reverse, one broken and one bent. This object was probably for mounting onto a strap, either a personal belt or a harness strap. Compare YORYM-258015.

A cast copper-alloy buckle of post-medieval date. The buckle is double looped with moulded ribbed decoration on the upper side of the frame. The reverse of the flame is flat and undecorated. The strap bar divides the two loops of the buckle and there are moulded knops at either end of the strap bar. The fitting has a single circular attachment loop from which emerges an integrally cast trefoil shaped plate. The plate has curvilinear decoration on the front and two rivet holes with the residue of corroded iron rivets within. The fitting has a dark green patina. It measures 30.21 mm long, 13.51 mm wide, 3.35 mm thick and weighs 3.1 grams.

A handle sherd from a late Medieval to modern ceramic vessel. The vessel would have been a closed form such as a jug. The fabric is a deep reddish brown with possibly a rare occurance of rounded white inclusions and more frequent occurance of mica. The sherd is covered in a blackish glaze. This sherd might be a type of red ware or a type of stone ware. The handle has an oval section measuring: width 21.25mm and thickness 10.52mm. The handle has an incomplete length of 38.30mm and weighs 12.16g.

An incomplete ceramic tobacco pipe of Post-Medieval date. This fragment of clay pipe consists of a short length of stem, less than 50% of the bowl and an incomplete heel or spur. The stem survives to a length of 14.16mm. The stem has an oval cross section, height 10.69mm and width 7.23mm. The hole through the stem is circular with a diameter of 2.09mm. The angle between the top of the stem and the back edge of the bowl is c.115 degrees. A lead alloy uniface token of probably Medieval or Post Medieval date. The design is a geometric pattern (Powell type 9) of lines formed of conjoined solid triangles. There are two lines across the base, with three lines radiating from the centre of the upper line. There are also initials (Powell type 2): a letter S on the left and a B with a gap between the two loops on the right. The letters are untidy. Compare to SWYOR-54B783 which may be a crude copy of this token. It was found in the same field.

There is one line across the base which is formed of conjoined solid triangles, with three lines radiating from the centre. This design may be based on the better made token recorded as SWYOR-549FC3 which is from the same field. The edges of the token are rounded untidy.

A carved and polished bead of uncertain date and material. The bead is roughly spherical and has an off-centre perforation of circular section. The point from which this perforation has been drilled is marked by an inverted conical depression. The surface is divided between patches of various colours, from pinkish-white to orange and various shades of grey. At at least two points these patches are crossed by parallel veins of white. A cast, copper alloy sword belt fitting dating from the post-medieval period, AD1500-1700. It consists of a flat body decorated with a floral and foliage pattern. It has a small knop at one end, and expanded into a fleur-de-lis terminal at the other. The wide end is damaged and may have extended into a loop or hook fitting. There is some ferrous corrosion in the centre of the wide end which might be the remains of a rivet. There are a number of similar belt fitting on the database; for example HESH-51ADE4 and SWYOR-B7BD55.

A complete cast copper alloy Post-medieval hooked clasp with engraved decoration. The hook is ovoid in plan with five attachment loops, two on either side and one at the end. At the opposite end there is a rectangular hook The surface is decorated with engraved foliate designs. A very similar example can be seen in Read page 173 n.653. The hook is 34.6mm long, 24.1mm wide, 1.8mm thick and weighs 4.98 grams.

A copper alloy seal matrix of Post Medieval date. The matrix itself has a rectangular face with rounded corners. From each corner and side of the matrix the sides taper up to form a stem with a central collar. A smaller second collar above that leads to an integral circular suspension loop. The suspension loop terminates a small knop on the top. The hole in the suspension loop is aligned parallel with the longest axis of the rectangular matrix and is filled with iron corrosion from a means of attachment. The matrix face is too corroded to be able to make out the design. Compare SUSS-E502E0.

A Post Medieval cast copper-alloy mount of probable 17th century date. The mount takes the form of a convex oval plate with slightly concave back . It has egg-shaped centre flanked by constrictions at top and bottom from which expand fan or shell shaped terminals. A Post Medieval or Modern copper-alloy clog or shoe clasp. The clasp consists of a sub-rectangular plate which extends at the base, terminating in a wide, backward-facing hook. At the other end a narrow lug terminates in an irregular shaped cross bar, possible how the fitting was attached. The upper surface bears decoration, both incised and stamped; in side a pellet border there are two zig zag lines, some cross hatching ans stamped diamond shapes, all of which are crudely done. The object is 48.1mm long, 24.6mm wide, 1.1mm thick and weighs 8.61 grams.

An incomplete silver mount in the shape of two hearts arranged as a mirror image, with the bottom point facing outwards. One pint is missing while the other is worn. The hearts are defined using etched zig-zag lines, a practise commonly referred to as wriggle-work and used frequently on pewter during the 17th Century. Both rivets remain in place, although one is broken, while the other is bent. Both are square in section. A medieval finger-ring, broken along the transverse section and much distorted. The ring is roughly triangular in section creating two registers on the outer surface. The upper register is engraved with the words +IESVS....RENVS The lower register contains the words +REX..VDEORVM Some letters are missing due to the much-abraded surface.
