A fragmnet of an enamelled cast copper alloy buckle frame of mid to late seventeenth century date.The frament appaers to be the top part of the buckle frame with the two legs of the animal, which are broken off by old breaks, would have extended to form the other sides of the frams. The fragment is in the shape of an animal with a head at one end and curled tail at the other. There are traces of a white enamal remaining. According to Geoff Egan, the manufacurers of these buckles also produced enamelled buttons, stirrups and ornate candlesticks. This material was being made at the …

A collection of four flint scrapers dating to the Late Neolithic and Early Bronze Age (3200 BC - 1500 BC). One has been formed from grey flint and weighs 16.0g, measuring 34.03mm in length, 30.60mm in width and 10.59mm in thickness. The second has been formed from a white/brown flint and weighs 17.7g, measuring 36.12mm in length, 34.63mm in width and 12.48mm in thickness. An incomplete cast lead alloy harness mount dating from about the late Post-Medieval to early Modern periods (1750-1900). The mount is a circular disc of lead alloy which is probably part of a Post-Medieval bridle boss. The edges have broken and crumbled; the body has been slightly bent out of shape. The front is decorated with a raised (probably applied) central scrollwork motif (possibly the letter S). The reverse has wear marks and the remnants of two spikes are present. Two large joining body fragments of a Roman mortarium, probably dating from the late 2nd or 3rd century AD. The mortarium was probably locally made from reddish sandy fabric with quartzite inclusions. While the outside of the sherds is very smooth, the inside is gritty which is typical for all mortaria (Roman household mixing bowls). The characteristic rim is missing which makes it difficult to identify a sub-type for this vessel.

It was made (probably locally) from very sandy, gritty grey colour with quartzite inclusions. The outer surface was probably coated with a dark grey or black slip, but this is now very worn.

Medium-sized rim sherd of a Roman black-burnished ware jar, probably BB2, dating from the early Roman period, probably 2nd-3rd century AD. The sherd is in very good condition, made from fine, sandy grey fabric with few quartzite inclusions. The outside surface of the sherd still retains the black burnished slip that is typical for this type of local Roman pottery.

A copper-alloy, 17th century trade token. The token has, on one side, a central motif of a horseshoe with the legend AT•THE•HORES•SHOW•IN• On the opposite side, the central motif is made up of three letters, •A• above W•E with the legend TVTILL•STRET•WESTMIN• The whole legend can be translated as AT THE HORSESHOE IN TOTHILL STREET WESTMINSTER and is to advertise, and be used at, the Horseshoe Inn or Public House that stood there from the 17th through to the 19th Century.

An inner flint flake that is grey in colour. The flake could have possibly been a knife or saw, but this is uncertain. There is one raised face with a central ridge, the other face is smooth. There is some evidence of retouching around the perimeter of the object. It weighs 3.1g and measures 28.38mm in length, 16.89mm in width and is 7.08mm in thickness.
