A complete late Mesolithic flint microlith (6300-4300 BC). Small triangular microlith, pointed at distal end and inclined toward the right hand side and blunted at proximal end, with an abrupt triangular notch in the right margin. Ventral surface is smooth and the margin has fine retouch predominantly to the distal and left edges. The Dorsal surface is composed to four negative scars with three arrises and a cream inclusion on the proximal end. The colour is light grey with one cream inclusion (ventral and dorsal) and some lighter grey fleck's along the central aspect. Date is late Me…

A complete ovate flint blade core of late Mesolithic date (6300-4300 BC), quite heavily worked with clear negatives of microlith extraction from the ventral and dorsal surfaces, possibly a core tablet. Ventral surface shows one large negative to the proximal end and multiple smaller negatives around the outer ventral surface all of which contain some cracking ripples. The dorsal surface still maintains some lighter cortex and demonstrates heavy longer bladelet shape negatives to the right hand side, while the left side shows extensive working of far smaller microliths. All negatives o…

A complete flint microlith of Mesolithic date (6300-4300 BC), most likely a microburin or end scraper. Ventral surface shows cracking ripples present on ventral surface. Dorsal surface shows several negative scars, the largest of which creates a deep concave negative across the dorsal surface, lateral margins show fine retouching. Both the left and right lateral margins are notched inward to create a contour toward the distal end. The oblique termination, created from the ventral side snapping the worked lithic which occurs in other such examples such as Bond, C. pg 112, fig, 22. no…

A complete flint microlith of Mesolithic date (6300-4300 BC) . With a high central dorsal ridge, profile is sub-rectangular, section is sub-triangular. The proximal end is flattened and shows flake removal/retouching with cracking ripples. Ventral surface has some cracking ripples toward the proximal portion, the lateral margins have fine retouch creating a finer serrated edge on the left side than on the right which is less retouched. The lithic predominantly light grey with some darker grey inclusions, with a number of light, cream inclusions running from distal to proximal ends. …

A collection of blade like flint flakes that are Mesolithic in date. There are 9 flakes in total: 6 are grey, and there is 1 mottled black/brown, 1 grey/green and 1 orange/brown. This is the kind of flake that could have been knapped to produce microlith blades, hence the Mesolithic date.

Mesolithic blade, knapped from mid-grey flint. The blade is roughly rectangular in plan. It has evidence of platform preparation and has a bulb of percussion with some bulbar scaring. Previous flakes have been removed from the dorsal surface. The distal end has possible evidence of retouch, however this could be damage. It is 65.56mm long. 21.38mm wide, 6.53mm thick and weighs 9.0 grams.
