An incomplete cast copper alloy D-shaped buckle, c. 1250-1500 AD. The remains of the buckle consist of a single loop D-shaped frame with a narrowed and offset strap bar. The outer edge of the loop has a copper alloy sheet roller with a central groove. The pin is missing. The frame measures 28 mm long, 20.5 mm wide, 7.6 mm thick and weighs 6.26 grams. Cf. Whitehead 2003, No. 57.

A Post Medieval copper alloy double looped buckle with moulded decoration. The frame is 'D'-shaped in cross-section with a flat back and bevelled sides, with oval loops expanded to points in the centre of each outer edge. Within the points are worn remains of moulded rosettes or flowers. The strap bar is narrowed from the frame and has a lobed knop at each end. This pin is missing. It measures 41.6 mm long, 30.4 mm wide, 2.9 mm thick and weighs 8.05 grams. A parallel can be seen in Whitehead (2003), p66, No. 407 which he dates to c.1550-1650 AD.

A medieval copper-alloy buckle plate. The plate is rectangular, flat and contains five bulbous headed copper alloy rivets. The central one is larger than the ones located in each angle. Two incomplete hinge loops extend from the frame end. The surface of the plate is gilded.

A cast copper alloy buckle plate, dating from the medieval period and probably the late 12th th to 13th century AD. The buckle plate consists of one rectangular sheet of copper alloy folded over; two lugs at one end of the plate would have fitted over the pin bar of a buckle. The other end of the plate is open but two copper alloy rivets remain, and would have secured the leather strap inside the plate. It can be dated to c.1550-1650AD.

Post medieval cast copper alloy double loop oval buckle. The frame is D-shaped in section with a flat back and rounded outer face. The outer edges of both loops are decorated with a row of seven lobed knops. The strap bar is narrowed with small oval knops protruding at each end. The length is 28.4mm, width 28.5mm, 1.9mm thick and weighs 2.24 grams. The general design is similar to no.384 in Whitehead (2003: 63) but this one is much smaller and thinner in size.

A copper alloy plate from a medieval buckle. Only the front plate and one rivet survive. It is rectangular with a rectangular panel within which is a design in relief of a lion passant. The hinge end of the plate has broken off. The plate is gilded on the front. There is a dome headed rivet surviving in one corner and a rivet hole in the other. The metal has a light green patina. Similar examples are illustrated in Egan and Pritchard's (1991) Dress Accessories and date from the thirteenth century. A cast copper alloy buckle dating to the Medieval period (c. AD 1250-1400). The buckle is D-shaped in plan and has a recessed pin bar; the frame of the buckle widens to the curve of the outer frame and is steeply beveled, giving the outer frame a concaved profile. There is the remains of (probable) scrolled and / or linear decoration on the outer edge of the frame but is too worn for further identification. There is the remains of gilding on the outer buckle frame.

A Medieval (1100-1500) copper alloy annular buckle frame with sheet copper alloy pin, measuring 23.02mm in length, 21.49mm in diameter (internal 14.85mm) and weighing 4.02g. Frame and pin are of different copper alloys. The pin is 6.41mm wide where it curls around the frame. Below, the long edges are bent downwards to make it C-shaped in cross section. It narrows to 2.96mm wide at the tip.

Copper alloy buckle. Cast D shaped loop with a collared knop at one end; an offset bar at the other end retains a pin probably made by folding thin sheet metal. The display side bears file and finishing marks with scant sign of subsequent wear; the knop has angular surfaces rather than rounded, and is only half round, so the object was intended to lie flat against a strap. Suggested date: Late Medieval, 1350-1400. Length: 24.1mm, Width: 23.5mm, Thickness: 3.1mm, Weight: 2.24gms.

Medieval cast copper alloy buckle frame with ornate outer edge. The strap bar is narrowed and offset. The outer edge curves outwards in a continuation of the oval shape. It is decorated by two projecting rounded knops seperated by narrow collars. The frame is D-shaped in section. The pin is missing. The frame is 19.6mm long, 25.3mm wide and 4.5mm thick; it weighs 4.34 grams in total. This is a Meols type 8 frame, smilar to Egan (2008:89), no.527 which is dated to the mid 13th to 14th centuries AD.
