Fragment of a late medieval copper-alloy purse frame. The frame is crescent-shaped in plan, flat and has a pierced lip on the underside to which the bag would have been sown. One incomplete hole is visible on this lip. One end terminates with an incomplete loop set at a right angle. The other end is broken.

TREASURE CASE 2012 T44. An incomplete silver Trumpet brooch of Roman date. The lower bow, foot and part of the catchplate are all that survive due to an old worn break. The surviving portion of the bow is triangular in plan and is undecorated. The bow terminates in a thick circular foot decorated with a circumferential rope-work design. The base of the foot is flat and undecorated. From the reverse of the bow the integrally cast, almost complete catchplate extends. A copper alloy scabbard dating from early Medieval to Medieval period. The main panel of the scabbard consists of two openwork plates of equal form, which are joined by a folded connection strip, located at the far end. Fixed to the opposite end of the connection strip is a pair of parallel-sided arms angled upwards in a diagonal line. Flint scraper, ovoid in plan and lozenge shaped in profile. The dorsal side is convex with a mostly cortex covered surface. The edges are unifacially retouched with a notch on the upper distal end. On the ventral side the distal end has a bulb of percussion with some flake removal. The right margin is retouched and there is some retouch scarring on the left margin. The flint is pale putty grey with a secondary cortex of brown cream in colouring. Mercer (1981) illustrates a similar example on page 133, Fig. 58, No. L. 130 which is dated to the Neolithic period.

A single-looped buckle with copper-alloy frame and corroded iron plate of probable post-medieval date. The frame is oval in form and bevelled externally on its upper surface, bevelling echoed internally on the lower. It measures 40.25 by 29.0 by 4.95mm. At the centre of the upper surface is a zone that features a central pin rest flanked to each side by a pair of transverse grooves with concomitant ridges. Late Medieval cast copper alloy gilded strap end, made of several components comprising a forked element with attached upper and lower plates to form a box-chape. Although technically a strap end, the fitting is of a type often attributed to or associated with book fittings, annd it dates to the 14th Century. Five fragments of Blast Furnace Slag of Post-Medieval date. The slag is irregular in shape with many broken edges. It is black to light grey in colour, with layering of colours in many areas. These five fragments are only a representation much more of the material that was found in the area.
