Roman cast copper alloy mount, probably from a casket or item of furniture. It was found near to an almost identical mount recorded on this database as ESS-C55282. The mount is in the form of a female bust. The head is oval with cast features. The eyes are oval, and pointed at the end making them appear almost lozenge shaped. There is a slight raised ridge above the eyes, forming eyebrows. The nose is a pronounced triangle. The mouth is depicted by a short depressed line. The chin is rounded. Roman cast copper alloy casket or furniture mount. The mount is cylindrical with a flat circular base with the remains of a corroded iron rivet. There are two raised ridges around the circumference of the mount, with a slightly convex area in between, measuring 8.16mm wide. Immediately after the upper ridge, the mount reduces in diameter with concave sides before widening slightly before terminating in a flat circle with a slight depression around its circumference.
