An incomplete rotary key of plausibly Roman or early-medieval date. It is of unusual construction having a copper-alloy cast bit, stem and lower handle, and a bow of iron that has largely corroded away. The stem has an oval cross-section and tapers slightly from the bow to the tip where it is hollow.
