A complete Medieval cast-copper-alloy strap-fitting (c. 1300-c. 1450 AD). The object consists of two parallel arms that expand to form a loop for suspension. It is 'D'-shaped in cross-section, convex on the outer face and flat on the inner face. Each arm is perforated by a copper-alloy rivet, one at each end. Both rivets are domed at one end a burred at the other. This object is corroded overall and has a green surface with off-white deposits. It has traces of gilding. 44.0 x 16.7 x 6.4mm. Weight: 8.37g.

An incomplete post-Medieval cast copper-alloy rowel spur (c. 1500-c. 1700 AD). One side element of the spur is missing. The surviving side is pointed-oval in cross section. The side meets the figure-8 terminal and the two loops are opposite each other. These have a width of 12.4mm and thickness of 2.8mm. The loops are not worn. This knife was formed on a blade which is now much shorter due to a 'snap' at some time. As it is seen now it is much shorter than it would have been originally. The cortex remaining along the right hand edge, dorsal side, has been chipped away, forming the knife edge by retouching after the cortex had been chipped. This retouch continues around the edge to distal end, the proximal has gone with the piece which had been broken, snapped off. The striking platform has broken off with a truncated flake scar showing from the original core. From the ventral side semi abrupt retouch is seen on upper left hand edge. There are also slight signs of gloss indicating possible use wear. The chert is dark grey in colour and was likely derived from a local beach pebble. Butler [2005] illustrates a similar example on page 169, fig 71, No.6 which is dated to the late Neolithic.
