An incomplete Early-Medieval (Anglo-Saxon) cast copper-alloy small-long brooch (400-550 AD). The pin is missing. The flat head-plate is sub-rectangular in plan with rounded corners. It measures 14.6mm in height and 13.5mm in width. A small amount of the head plate at one side has been lost to corrosion or small breaks. The front of the plate has the remains of a border of punched dots. The parallel sided bow is arched in side profile, convex at the front and flat at the rear. An incomplete Medieval to post-Medieval cast copper-alloy double-looped buckle (c. 1450-c. 1600 AD). Each loop is oval in plan and has serrated outer edges, each with seven points. The loops are bevelled externally on the upper surface; the lower face is flat and plain. The loops incurve towards the pin bar. There is a small deposit of iron corrosion on the bar. A complete and very small Medieval cast copper-alloy harness pendant (c. 1175 -c. 1400 AD). The plate of the pendant is circular in plan, slightly convex at the front and slightly concave at the rear. At the top it has a suspension loop with a circular perforation, 1.7mm in diameter. The front is corroded and has traces of gilding. At the rear it has a mid-green patina nearly covering the whole surface. 16.6 x 11.3 x 4.8mm. Weight: 0.57g.

An almost complete post-Medieval cast copper-alloy mount in the form of an elongated acorn (c. 1600-c. 1700 AD). The mount is convex at the front and slightly concave at the rear. At the front the seed (or fruit) and the cupola are worn and plain and it has a pair of parallel horizontal grooves about mid-way along its length. A complete post Medieval cast copper alloy one-piece dress hook c 1550-c. 1700 AD. Read Class E, Type 3. This dress hook is composed of three elements, an attachment loop, a plate and a hook. The attachment loop is trapezoidal in plan, 'D'-shaped in cross-section. It has a circular plate, domed at the front and concave at the rear. Obverse: ELIZABETH.D.G.ANG.FRA.ET.HIB.REGINA; Crowned bust left with a rose behind the head. Reverse: POSVI/DEVM.AD/IVTORE/M.MEVM (I have made God my Helper); Square shield on long cross pattée dividing the inscription with date of 1562 above shield. The coin is bent through an angle of 90º.

For this locality an interesting flake as it has beem harvested from an old land surface overlying or close to flint bearing chalk.Both the ventral and dorsal surfaces are naturally thermal fractured with the rest of the dorsal surface nodular cortex. The edge where the natural scars meet has been serrated with semi-abrupt retouch through the partial blue/cream patina to reveal the underlying dark grey flint. Butler(2005) illustrates a notched flake on page 186, fig 76, 6.

An orangey flint thick flake with cream flecks. It has been hard hammer struck from a roughly prepared platform with ragged flake scars on the dorsal proximal surface. The 2 main dorsal scars are divided by pebble cortex that widens to the distal end. the right margin has been sharpened by untidy retouch and appears to have been used as a cutting flake. Butler(2005) illustrates a cutting flake on page 186, fig 76, 9.

A yellow chert core on a beach pebble; likely sourced locally. Flakes have been removed at a right angle to each other from one platform edge in the manner of a chopper core. A patch of gloss runs from the platform edge down the main flake scar. It appears that the core has been re-used as a plane or some other kind of tool that is used on soft material. Butler(2005) illustrates a 2 platform core on page 180, fig 74, 4.
