Near complete cast copper alloy brooch of later Early Medieval date; deemed Anglo-Scandinavian in cultural terms. The brooch is lozengiform in plan with openwork decoration. A fragment of gold filigree from an unidentified object. It has a flat gold sheet backplate, torn along every edge, with a design of one or two incomplete intertwining Style II animals. The bodies of the animal(s) are made from made from 'carpets' of parallel twisted unbeaded wires, set in groups of 6, 7 or 8, generally in pairs to make three or four imitation plaits. There are also some larger-diameter beaded wires, perhaps representing interlacing limbs, and two raised undecorated pear-shaped elements which must represent hips or shoulders. A complete, but bent gold posy finger ring of Late Post Medieval dating to the17th Century No trace of enamel is surviving on the exterior, which has been decorated on the exterior with double hearts flanked by love birds with foliage and flowers, including a pansy for 'thoughts'. The object would have been enamelled, tiny traces remain. A copper-alloy radiate of Allectus (AD 293-296) (Reece Period 14), probably [PAX AVG], Pax standing left holding branch and transverse sceptre. Mint unclear. The worn and corroded coin has two piercings, located at three and four o'clock, respectively, to the obverse. Dimensions: 22mm diameter, 1.5mm thick. Weight: 2.83g. This coin has been noted for Sam Moorhead's corpus for RIC.

An incomplete cast copper-alloy mid 1st century AD Roman Colchhester derivative, Polden Hilll brooch, as derived from the Colchester type. The brooch has lost the majority of its spring mechanism and concomitant pin; the catch-plate is also very abraded. The head is expanded in an exaggerated way. The wings are shallowly convex, with a shallow concave lower surface. Semicircular removals at their tips hint at plates for retention of an axis bar in the manner of Polden Hill brooches. A complete silver gilt hooked tag, or dress hook, Read class D type 6, of Post-Medieval date, c. 1500-1600. The tag has a trefoil-shaped head with small triangular notches around its border. Each lobe has a dome in its centre, with a raised circle around its base. Between the three domes are three remaining pieces of large silver filigree, with small circular depressions indicating the locations of at least three more. It is possible that the domes were completely surrounded by filligree. The underside is undecorated but retains a C-shaped bracket near the rear edge for attachment…
