Mid brown in colour piece of flint with off white inclusions, appears to be a waste flake converted to a blade. The dorsal face proximal edge has a concave gouge in the middle, the right margin has a notch, may have some retouch around its edge, but certain. The distal edge is thinner than the rest of the piece, the left side appears broken with the edges still clean. The left margin also appears to have been worked below the medial, with some minor retouch along the edge. The ventral face is very smooth, with the bulb of percussion still present, ripples are present within the fa…

Object type: LITHIC IMPLEMENT
Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: Cornwall
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
Circular piece of dark grey/brown flint, with about 10% cortex remaining on the dorsal face, the cortex is smooth in texture. The dorsal face has a prominent projection left of centre of the face, while the proximal edge right side, appears to be a protruding point, with cortex on its surface. It would appear to be a piercer point.... Possible retouch on the proximal edge and upper right margin. The ventral face is uneven, with no bulb of percussion present, the left margin is smooth and appears to be a hinged termination. The point of what appears to be a piercer is more promine…

A crescent shaped dark grey and black piece of flint. The dorsal face has a prominent ridge running adjacent to the right margin, proximal to distal edges. The distal edge is straight in appearance, but appears to have no retouch along the edge, the edge is steep enough to be the edge of a scraper. The proximal edge appears irregular. The ventral face exhibits a bulb of percussion which appe…

Object type: LITHIC IMPLEMENT
Broad period: MESOLITHIC
County: Derbyshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
Complete but peripherally damaged lithic implement. It is a worked flint blade of later Mesolithic date. The implement has been modified to serve several purposes with a cutting edge along one side, a pointed, burin, end for use in scoring or puncturing, and a notched edge with at least two, possibly three notches for stripping things perhaps bark or small bones.
It is worth noting that there is cortex on the exterior end of the blade, and that the top of the blade is snapped removing striking platform/bulb of percussion. These features indicate that the orignal core, from which thi…
