A silver Roman denarius of Titus (AD 79-81), dating to the period c.AD 80 (Reece period 4). [TR P IX IMP XV COS VIII P P] reverse type depicting a Dolphin coiled around an anchor. Mint of Rome. RIC II (2nd ed.), p. 206, no. 112. Pitting on both surfaces suggests this coin may be a contemporary copy.

A copper alloy buckle frame missing its pin and plate and dating from the medieval period. The frame is 23.83mm long and 17.53mm wide. It is D shaped and has a recessed and offset bar, convex sides and a rounded outer edge with a projecting collared knop. The frame is moulded on the front and flat on the back. A similar buckle can be seen on page 94 of Egan and Pritchard (1991) and dates from 1350 - 1400. Refer to:- SWYOR-755203, YORYM-2A66B3, UKDFD-31803, UKDFD-30096 and UKDFD-29834.

A cast copper alloy Medieval D shaped buckle dating from 1250 - 1350 AD. It is an example of a Meols type 2 buckle with a knop at each end of the bar and a slightly expanded outer edge. The copper alloy pin survives but the plate is missing.

An incomplete, post Medieval, cast, copper-alloy, rectangular shoe buckle. The frame is rectangular in plan and in cross-section and the edges are thickened at the centres where it is drilled to take the central spindle. The central spindle bar is missing, as is the pin. The whole frame is curved. The upper surface of the frame is decorated with double incised lines at the edges at approximately 45 degrees to the frame edge, and with five small incised lines on the bowed front and back edges above where the central bar should be.The frame has a nice shiny green patina and measures…

A corroded, incomplete cast copper-alloy post-medieval sub-rectangular shoe or knee buckle (c. 17th century). The frame is bevelled externally, with more abrupt bevelling internally on the upper surface. The outer edges feature a central double moulding that protrudes out. On one side this would have acted as a pin rest; the pin is missing. The sides feature a moulding at the pin bar, with scrolled mouldings to each side that extend towards the corners. Pebble flint blade with a serrated lateral edge and a notched proximal end. The distal end ends in a hinged fracture. The right lateral edge when looking at the ventral face is denticulated. The dorsal face contains semi abrupt retouch at the distal end on the right lateral edge. Blade scars run down the dorsal face. The blade is sub triangular in plan and has a plano convex profile. The flint is cream in colour. Mercer (1981)illustrates a similar example on page 131. Fig 57, L118 which dates to the Neolithic Period.

A corroded and squashed copper-alloy open type thimble or 'sewing ring' of late medieval to early post-medieval date. The ring is undecorated other than the functional punches, arranged fairly regularly in three rows. The metal has corroded to a red-brown colour with a dark-green patina where it survives. Sewing rings tend to date to the late medieval or early post-medieval periods (Holmes 1988, 3).

A worn cast lead vessel mend of uncertain date. It is oval shaped in plan, conical in form and with a slight constriction around its centre that contains possible traces of dark reddish pottery fabric. The entire object measures 22.59mm in length, 16.12mm in width, 8.46mm in thickness and 9.52g in weight. This is a worn lead vessel mend that may date to any point from the Roman period onwards.
