An incomplete cast copper-alloy object, possibly a fragment from the bow of a Roman bow brooch. It is oval shaped in section, terminating at both ends in old breaks, and has a moulded vertical rib flanked by grooves on the front face. The fragment has worn surfaces with traces of a green patina and measures 21.42mm in length, 4.53mm in width, 3.97mm in thickness, and 2.19g in weight.
This is possibly a fragment from the bow of a Roman brooch, although its poor preservation and small size make a close identification probematic. If it is indeed Roman then it is of probably 1st to 2nd …
