A worn and incomplete Post Medieval silver Scottish Eighth thistle-merk of James VI of Scotland (1567-1625 AD). The coin's value was 1s.8d Scottish. The coin would date between 1601-1603 AD just before James VI acceded to the English throne (as James I of England). Spink; Coins of Scotland Ireland and the Islands (2003) p74; No.5500.
