Roman cast copper-alloy Colchester derivative Dolphin type brooch with hinged pin dating to c. AD 55-100. The brooch is highly corroded, obscuring some details of the decoration but is also probably mis-cast with a large irregular mass of corroded metal between the bow and one wing.
The brooch has a cylindrical head with open ends to the wings and slightly expanded terminals, a copper alloy spindle for the hinge runs through from end to end. Post Medieval, 17th century, cast copper-alloy circular bridle boss. The boss is a hollow hemisphere, with an openwork design and a flat border around the edge. A break to one side has removed part of the border and one of the pair of rivet holes. The boss has a raised central knop, around which is the openwork main body, consisting of slim curving arms. The less worn arms are decorated with a scale like patten of raised semi-circles running down each arm and incised lines down their inner sides which continue at the base to meet the base of the next arm. Post Medieval, 17th century, cast copper alloy openwork mount with integral attachment spikes. The mount is flat and shaped into four lobes, two large pointed oval lobes alternating with two smaller circular lobes. The tip of one of the pointed oval lobes is lost, possibly to damage. The lobes have circular holes in the centre and there is a further hole in the centre of the mount; the holes in the pointed oval lobes join the central hole while those in the circular lobes are connected to it by an indent on the front. Medieval or Post Medieval cast copper alloy double loop buckle frame. The frame has two oval loops with flat backs and bevelled outer and inner edges. Both loops have three transverse grooves in the centre of the outer side, a straight groove flanked by diagonal grooves in a chevron. The strap bar is narrowed; the pin is missing. The frame is 36.3mm long, 33.4mm wide and 2.9mm thick. It weighs 6.22 grams.

A cast copper alloy stud. The stud head is a very slightly domed sexfoil in plan with moulded grooves. The reverse of the head is hollow and has an integral square sectioned shank protruding from the centre. The shank is tapers to a sharp point. The stud has an abraded brown coloured surface. It measures 8.4mm long, 20.58mm diameter and weighs 4.8g.

A cast copper alloy strap fitting; a decorative mount. In plan, the mount is an elongated sub pointed oval with moulded knopped terminals. The reverse is undecorated and has two fragmentary integral spikes which are oval in section and tapers to a broken point. The surface of the mount has a mid green patina. It measures 37.74mm long, 15.01mm wide and 5.25mm thick, weighing 5g.

A cast copper alloy stud. The head is circular in plan and is flat, with rounded edges. The upper surface of the head is decorated with an inlaid niello border and a similar inlaid outline of a quatrefoil. Inetgral to the reverse of the head there is a sub-circular shank which is only fragmentary before it was broken. The break is not recent. The surface has a mottled incomplete mid green patina. It measures 27.17mm diameter, 10.05mm wide and weighs 10.8g.

Cast copper alloy sexfoil stud. It is slightly convex on the front and concave on the back. The petals are defined by indented lines which meet in the centre and the outer edge is cusped. In the centre of the reverse is an iron attachment stud or possibly loop, due to the quantity of corrosion it is not clear how this is attached to the copper alloy head. There is a raised cross formed of thin lines cast on the reverse of one of the petals. The front is heavily gilded. It is 16.7mm in diameter, 5.9mm thick incuding the rivet and weighs 2.57 grams.

A cast copper alloy strap fitting; decorative mount. In plan the mount is sub-circular and has moulded pellets around a rose as decoration. The reverse of the mount has two integral, oval sectioned studs, both are broken. The surface of the mount is has traces of gilding, but most of it is abraded and has red copper corrosion. The mount is 18mm long, 15.94mm wide and 6.5mm thick. It weighs 2.2g.

A cast copper double looped annular shaped buckle. The loops are decorated with five moulded raised quatrefoils (the sixth quatrfoil is missing due to the loop being incomplete) and between these the loop is narrowed and decorated with two or three 'V' shaped grooves. The reverse of the frame is flat and undecorated. The pin is an elongated triangle which is curled around the strap bar. The strap bar is narrowed, and is sub semi-circular in section. The buckle frame has a dark green patina with traces of a white metal wash. It measures 57.03mm long, 49.03mm wide and weighs 16.9g.

Post Medieval lead two disk cloth seal with a large letter A flanked with annulets and with an annulet below all within a pellet border on one side and with a pinecone in a cusped border on the other. The tab that would have joined the two disks is missing from an old break. It is 21.2mm by 18.5mm and 3.6mm thick; it weighs 6.87 grams.
The design indicates it is from a mixed linen-warp and cotton weft fabric from Augsberg, Germany, dating to the 16th or 17th century. Cf. Egan (1994) nos.308-10.

A single looped cast copper alloy buckle and buckle plate. The frame of the buckle is a 'D' shape in plan with a narrowed and off-set strap bar. The bar is oval in section. The frame tapers in width towards the strap bar, is at its widest at the apex of the frame and is obliquely angled in profile. An incomplete copper alloy spur, it is probably a prick spur. The terminal of the arms are missing therefore it is an asymmetrical 'U' shape in plan. The exterior of the spur is decorated with cross-hatched asymmetrical curved shapes. The arms are sub-rectangular in section with rounded corners and the breaks are not recent.
