A military button of c1800. The button shows a crown above the letters BV (probably for Banbury Volunteers). Steve Newman comments: The clear front runners for this are either the Banbury or Bicester Volunteer Infantry units. As it was found in Newbottle, which puts it closer to Banbury, that is the strongest candidate. Other finds being recorded may allow a conclusive ID to be made.
