County: Northamptonshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
A triangular shaped lead weight, with a flat top and base, and bevelled edges. It appears to have been crudely made and has no visible surface marings or decoration. The 'points' or corners of the triangle have been squared off. It is a complete free standing weight, with no suggestion that there was ever a suspension loop. The lead is a light whitish-grey colour.
Weights of this style have been recorded elsewhere in the PAS database and have been dated to anywhere between 1100-1800, such is their undiagnostic nature. However, they are not likely to be Roman.
