A rim fragment from a Bronze (copper-alloy) vessel, from the late medieval or post-medieval period. The fragment may have been part of a cauldron or a plate/dish. The rim proper flares out slightly, before tapering to a bevelled edge. The surface of this find is slightly corroded and worn. The original surface of this vessel would have had a polished dark green patina, though most of this has now worn away exposing the copper alloy below. The broken edges are all extremely worn.

Object type: STYLUS
Broad period: ROMAN
County: Worcestershire
Workflow stage: Published
A cast copper alloy Roman stylus. The stylus has a faceted stem, which is a octahedron in section. This portion of the stem is narrowed. The terminal which originally would have the point or nib is slightly expanded in diameter and is circular in section, becoming wider to the tip. This terminal would be pointed but instead there is a flat edge which may be covered with iron corrosion. This perhaps suggests that the point/nib was seperate and possibly interchangable. The opposite terminal is the eraser, and this is a waisted rectangle in plan and it tapers slightly in depth to the bla…

A lead alloy token with images on both faces. One face has a square in the centre, with diagonal lines running from corner to corner through a central pellet. There are multiple lines totally surrounding the square that are perpendicular to its sides. The other face has what may be a crude attempt at a fleur-de-lys design, again surrounded on all sides by perpendicular lines. This latter design is similar to one on a possible merchant's token dating from the 15th century. Although there are many tokens that attempt to depict a fleur-de-lys, this specific example could not be found but…
