Object type: TOKEN
Broad period: POST MEDIEVAL
County: East Sussex
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
A post-medieval bi-face lead alloy token. One side has a slightly raised rim that forms an inner circle. At its centre there is a raised pellet. There is evidence of a design or attempt at a legend around the outer rim but it is too worn to decipher. The second side has the same raised rim with a daisy pattern design inside the inner circle. Again the rim shows evidence of a design around its periphery. The token measures 18.5mm in diameter, 2.1mm thick and weighs 3.77grams. Lead tokens had a wide variety of uses and were made locally; they are therefore hard to date precisely.
