Cast lead bullet, circular in plan and section and cylcindrical and almost semi-circular in profile. One end of the bullet has broken off, which suggests that this piece was originally longer, but the exact length is unknown. The rounded nose at the other end has a central linear groove which may have been caused by impacting with a sharp metal surface, as the lead has been forced into a ridge on one side.
From the diameter and weight of this bullet, it appears to be a 0.625 (16 mm) bullet from an English Baker rifle type, originally the Pattern 1800 Infantry Rifle, but referred…

Cast lead button, circular in plan and plano-convex in profile and section, with an integral square lug on the back, perforated with a square hole. The button's face is decorated with two raised crosses, expanded to the edge from a central boss, which divide the face into eight sections, surmounted by an internal circle which then divides the face into sixteen sections. Each of the outer eight sections holds one raised pellet. This pattern can be seen commonly on lead tokens dating from the Medieval period, but is also found on buttons from this time.

Cast copper alloy leg of cauldron with five defined moulded ribs running vertically from the broken end above the foot, now missing, to the angled and everted attachment end. This end would have been atached to the body of the vessel and is triangular in plan and section. The foot would have not had a collar and claw but instead a straight stumpy terminal, like the examples below (Roderick Butler pers comm).
Read (1988) illustrates a similar leg on page 95, Nos.587, which dates from the 17th century.

An incomplete gold dental plate with two incomplete teeth voids. The plate is misshapen due to accidental damage following its deposition. It has an undulating surface and is indented along one edge, presumably to accommodate existing teeth. There are two incomplete rivets, these appear to be made of a white metal alloy. The plate measures 32mmlong, 11.16mm wide, 5.95mm thick and weighs 1.8g.
The plate dates to the Modern period: c. 1825 - c. 1950.

Copper alloy Roman pin. The head consists of a slightly compressed globe decorated by a single groove around the perimeter. The shaft tapers to a blunt point, and is slightly bent before the point of breakage. The object is in poor condition, is 23mm long, 8mm in diameter, and weighs 2.7g.

A Russian cast lead or lead alloy seal with imprints on both faces. In plan it is sub-oval. In section it is a sub-rectangular with rounded corners, and there are two parallel holes running the width of the seal. The obverse reads 'A? / A [ ] GT / A[ ]KV / [ ]. The reverse reads '•NP• / HIIIIRI / [ ]818.The surface of the seal has a light brown patina. The seal measures 22.71mm long, 18.06mm wide and 4.38mm thick. It weighs 10.7g.

Triangular copper alloy object, upper surface decorated with three ring and dot patterns, and zoomorphic(?) terminals at two corners. Two of the 'dots' penetrate the object as holes, with iron residue suggesting attachment points. Third corner broken off. A cast copper alloy double-looped oval buckle frame. The frame is an oval in plan and is slightly narrowed at the strap bars. There are two strap bars which are trapezoidal in section. The frame is a quarter-circle in section. One loop has a pin notch. The only decoration on the frame is at either end of the strap bars, and this is composed of linear ridges. The loops both have breaks in them. The surface of the frame has a well developed light green patina. The pin is missing. The frame measures 30.57mm long, 16.82mm wide, 3.04mm thick and weighs 2.6g.

A lcircular lead-alloy pot mend. None of the vessel remains, but the gap suggests a body thickness of c.4.1 mm at the point of the repair. The pot mend has a chalky matt white patina. Dimensions are: Diameter 39 mm, Thickness 10.9 mm, Weight 35 grams. A medieval date seems probable.

A fragment of a knapped flint polished axe head. The butt of the axe head remains. In section the axe is a sub pointed oval with recently scars occurring along the edge and butt. THe flint is a mottled green/brown colour. Many of the polished areas also show shallow negative scarring that has not been polished complete flat. The axe measures 63.09mm long, 42.63mm wide, 20.92mm thick and it weighs 62.7g.

An incomplete cast copper-alloy bell shaped stud dating to the Roman period, c. 43-410 AD.
The stud has a rectangular-sectioned shaft which is now highly corroded, some of the tip, including the perforation, has been lost to an old break and the remaining tip has broken more recently. The shaft rises from the curved base of the large, bowl-shaped, terminal knop; the base has a distinct step inwards halfway up. A Roman cast copper alloy brooch. The top part of a Colchester B type, cast in two pieces. Dated circa 50-80AD. The pin, most of the spring, the middle part of the bow and the catchplate are missing.
