A complete Post Medieval cast lead circular unifaced token. On one side are the raised initials J S with a pellet between. The other side is blank. The token measures 20.35mm in diameter, 1.16mm thick and weighs 2.4grams. Lead tokens had a wide variety of uses and were made locally; they are therefore hard to date precisely but those with initials are thought to be Post Medieval in date (1500-1850 AD).

Early Roman copper denarius of Julia Domna dating from c. 196-211, possibly votive. RIC 4 (Julia). 574. A metallurgical analysis would be useful to see if there is any silver present. If it is entirely of base metal, then its purpose will certainly have been votive. A number of similar examples from the Maryport area were recorded (in the Netherhall collection; not the PAS database), though they have since disappeared.
