A silver Roman coin; a Denarius of Caracalla (198-217AD). It has a diameter of 18.18mm, thickness 2.03mm, weight 2.60g. For reference compare Sear 2002. Roman Coins and their values II p. 524 no: 6853, but this is TR P X dating from 206 - 207 AD.

Silver plated with a copper alloy core, contemporary copy of a denarius of Septimius Severus minted AD 193-211.
Copying RIC 82, minted in Rome 197. This coin was minted to commemorate the emperors provision of public spectacles, hence the elephant on the reverse.
