An incomplete cast copper alloy Roman brooch of Colchester derivative Polden Hill (flat wing ends type, West Midlands),Mackreth 2011, 4.f. Plate 47. The wings are semi-cylindrical with perforated wing caps at each terminal. Through the perforations there is a copper alloy axis bar. Around the axis bar, the spring is coiled 9 times. The exterior coils then go on to form the horizontal chord. The pin is missing. The wings are decorated with vertical grooves. A cast copper alloy key, probably a casket key. The handle/bow is incomplete and was probably originally sub-circular in plan. The stem is oval in section and is solid except for the terminal which is tubular. The bit is a thick angular ‘J’ shape in plan. The surface of the key has a mid green coloured patina. In length, from the handle to the terminal of the stem it measures 30.74mm, and the widest point is the bit which is 10.7mm. It weighs 2.8g.

An unidentified cast copper alloy object. The object is sub-rectangular in plan with broken terminals. These breaks are not recent. It is sub-circular in section and has a central perforation running the length of the object. On the exterior there are two faces to the object, both decorated with an incised figure on each. The figure is missing thier necks and above and their feet. The figures are dress in drapery, possibly with their hands tucked into the drapery. The incised lines have incomplete silver inlay. A cast copper alloy button the design of which is similar to that on post 1732 - pre 1772 Spanish coins. The design shows a pair of crowned pillars (the Pillars of Hercules) and two crowned orbs and the legend .VTRAQVE.VNU M. and the date 1738. This type of button is apparently frequently found in colonial America.
