An incomplete cast copper-alloy spacer from a composite strap end of Medieval date. The lower half of the spacer survives intact, the remainder now missing due to old breaks. It comprises a flat rectangular plate with openwork decoration and a decorative terminal knop. The openwork panel is incomplete but at its base has a trefoil shaped motif. Beneath the openwork decoration is a circular rivet hole and the sides of the plate have semi-circular constrictions. The terminal knop has a short rectangular neck followed by an acorn shaped motif with central circular aperture containing th…

A rather crude copper-alloy strap end, Thomas Type A, dating to the late Early Medieval period. The strap end is relatively wide and short compared to the majority of other Type A strap ends. Almost half of the strap end is taken up by the zommorphic terminal; the ears are very large and the forehead contains a triangular stamp. The snout is also decorated with semi-circular mouldings. The body of the strap end is decorated with two rectangular panels containing 'scales'. The attachment end has two small rivet holes and is decorated with an incised semi-circle divided into segments.

A copper-alloy strap end, Thomas Type A, dating to the late Early Medieval period. The strap end is elongated and terminates with an animals' head with large circular ears and a narrow snout. There are two broken rivet holes at the attachment end, and another rivet placed through the centre of the body towards the attachment end. This additional rivet is placed through the decoration on the body and is presumably a later addition to strengthen the worn attachment end. The body contains a worn decoration that presumably represents one or more animals. The surface of the metal within th…
