Description:
A silver, probably hollow circular button. The front piece is domed with a protruding pimple at the apex. The back piece is slightly convex and has a central integral attachment loop. This has a solid stem which is rectangular in section, which divides to form a round loop.
Discussion:
In terms of age and as the object contains a minimum of 10% precious metal it qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996. Similar examples can be seen on page 39 of Buttons and Fasteners by Gordon Bailey. Compare also 2007 T537 (ESS…
