Acast copper alloy teardrop-headed button and loop fastener of Wild's hybrid Class II/III dating to the early Roman period. The fastener consists of a teardrop shaped head and a triangular shank. At the base of the tear-drop shaped head at the top is a moulded oval knop. The teardrop-shaped head is unlike most class III fasteners as it is perforated, hence the hybrid of Wild's Class II/III. Date: 16th/17th Century Description: A silver, probably hollow circular button. The front piece is domed with a protruding pimple at the apex. The back piece is slightly convex and has a central integral attachment loop. This has a solid stem which is rectangular in section, which divides to form a round loop. Discussion: In terms of age and as the object contains a minimum of 10% precious metal it qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996. An Iron Age brooch of the La Tene IBb style (400-272 BC). The brooch is cast from a single piece of copper alloy. Half of the spring and all of the pin are missing. Only two loops of the spring remain on one side of the head. The bow has a semicircular arched profile and is oval in plan with a integrally cast valley running along the centre of the front.
