An incomplete cast copper-alloy double-looped buckle frame of 18th century date. When complete the frame would probably have been rectangular in plan. One outside edge and parts of the sides survive. The front, the outer and inner edges are slightly raised in the form of narrow border. At the centre of the inner face of the outside edge there is a small pin rest. The underside is largely bevelled although it is flat near the sides. Numerous file marks are present on the bevelled areas. This buckle frame has an even mid-green patina overall. The two breaks are old. 18.9 x 30.7 x…

A complete cast copper alloy double looped sub-oval buckle. The buckle frame, in plan, is a pointed oval, with the apex of the loops forming a triangle. The strap bar is narrowed and oval in section. The terminal of the strap bar has moulded decoration but the form is uncertain due to abrasion. The reverse of the frame is flat and undecorated except for a trace of gilding. The pin is missing. The surface of the frame is abraded, and one loop has a slightly break due to corrosion. The buckle measures 35.32mm long and 20.19mm wide across the complete loop. It weighs 3g. A simil…

A cast copper-alloy double-looped buckle frame of Post-Medieval date. It has two D-shaped loops with expanded outer edges, separated from one another by a central bar that is triangular in section. Projecting triangular knops are visible on the edges of the frame where bar and frame meet, and the front faces of the outer edges both have central oval shaped pin rests. A small copper-alloy pin is preserved folded around the bar. This is flat, rectangular in plan and section, and tapers to a sharpened point. The entire object measures 17.21mm in length, 22.39mm in width, 2.58mm in thickn…
