An incomplete cast copper-alloy handle from a cooking vessel of Medieval to early Post-Medieval date. A short length of the oval sectioned leg survives intact, as well as part of the floor of the vessel, the remainder of the object now missing due to old breaks. The exterior surfaces of the leg are slightly faceted in appearance and have blackened surfaces resultant from exposure to high temperatures. It measures 58.11mm in length, 21.38mm in width, 26.37mm in thickness, and weighs 88.88g. This vessel leg is of later Medieval to early Post-Medieval date, c.14th-17th centuries AD.

A cast copper-alloy double-looped buckle of Post-Medieval date. It has rectangular loops that flare slightly at their outer corners and are separated by a central bar that is triangular in section. A separately cast copper-alloy pin hinges around the bar and is triangular in section, tapering to a sharp point that extends beyond the outer edge of the frame. The buckle measures 33.05mm in width, 21.43mm in height, 2.48mm in thickness, and weighs 5.10g. It is of early Post-Medieval date, probably from the 16th-17th centuries AD.

A copper alloy square shaped coin weight possibly for the Thistle crown of James I (1603 – 1625). The weight is square and flat with straight sides. On one face is the design of a square topped shield containing what is probably a rampant lion. The back of the weight is corroded, but may be a thistle design. It has a length of 15.27mm, width 13.48mm, thickness 1.77mm, weight 1.90g. For reference see P and B Withers 1995. Lions, Ships and Angels p. 35.

Four sherds from vessels of late Medieval to early Post-Medieval date with a combined weight of 76.14g. This includes two rim sherds from coarse ware vessels with a combined weight of 34.09g, a coarse ware body sherd weighing 4.29g, and a handle fragment with green glaze and punched decoration on the exterior surface that weighs 37.76g. These sherds are of probable 15th-17th century AD date.

Half of a four disc lead alloy cloth seal dating from the Post medieval period (1575 – 1800). It consists of two circular discs joined next to each other. One has a large circular hole in the centre and is not decorated. The other is decorated with a thistle. The thistle possibly indicats a connection with the Dukes of Lennox and Richmond, who controlled the alnage from 1605 onwards (see Finds research Group Datasheet 3, fig. 13a). The cast copper-alloy suspension loop of a strap fitting, Post-Medieval in date, probably 17th century. Trefoil shaped flat object with three loops, each with a central circular piercing, and a short stub projectig between two of the loops at one side. It is not clear if the stub is complete or broken from a worn break. It is 21.3mm long, 18.7mm wide and 3.0mm thick; it weighs 3.28 grams. Similar trefoil fittings have been found attached to hooked mounts e.g. DOR-68FC94, SUSS-4422A3 and Read (2000:30, 42) No. 362.

Date: 16th/17th Century Description: A silver, probably hollow circular button. The front piece is domed with a protruding pimple at the apex. The back piece is slightly convex and has a central integral attachment loop. This has a solid stem which is rectangular in section, which divides to form a round loop.
