Record ID: ESS-885BB3
Object type: BIRD FEEDER
Broad period: POST MEDIEVAL
County: Hertfordshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
Two post medieval cast lead containers, possibly feed containers for bird cages.
Both containers are trapezoid in plan, and would have had a 'D' shaped cross section before they were flattened - i.e. the back of the container would have been flat with a curved front. The rims expand out, and there are traces of cast lines on both examples. Both are damaged and worn.
The larger example is 91.47mm wide at the rim, tapering to 45.70mm at the base. The smaller example is 59.76mm wide at the rim, tapering to 38.38mm at the base and weighs 81.6 grams.
