A 3rd-century silvered copper-alloy Roman radiate of Tacitus, 'PAX AETERNA', Gallic mint (275-276; Reece issue period 14; R.I.C. 34). This coin has survived well. It has been pierced for use at a later date at c. 12 o'clock on the obverse and c. 6 o'clock on the reverse. Such adaption, presumably for jewellery tends to be considered an early-medieval practice although a Roman date cannot be ruled out.
