An incomplete cast copper-alloy ‘initial’ T-shaped brooch of Roman date (AD 70 – AD 150). This brooch is particularly large with an overall width 47.9mm. The wings are sub-circular in cross-section and have expanded terminals. It has a copper-alloy axis bar, visible at the ends of the wings and also within a break at the rear. The axis bar is circular in cross-section with a diameter of 2.1mm. Mid-way along the length of the wings a slot accommodated an iron pin. The severely corroded loop of the pin survives but the shaft is lost. The bow projects slightly forwards at the top…

A circular, cast copper alloy disc, probably the head stud from an enamelled headstud brooch dating from 75 - 200 AD. The disc is circular and the upper surface is divided by a plain cross into four cells, each containing red enamel. The reverse carries the remains of what appears to have been a ferrous mounting point. It is 10.1mm in diameter and 3.3mm thick. It weighs 0.98gm. It is similar to the studs on brooches such as number 34 on page 332 of Hattatt's Visual Catalogue.
