Fragment of a Headstud Brooch, comprising bow with small stud, loop, complete unpierced catch-plate, a basal collar, and a flared moulded foot. The stud bears a cross in relief, defining four tiny compartments; the medial ridge of the bow is finely billeted, and flanked by a further pair of rinbs; white material between the medial ridge and flanking ribs may represent remnants of enamel. Suggested date: Early Roman, 70-200.

Weight or playing piece. A neat conical flat-bottomed casting, with a polished hemispherical bone inset in its top. Objects of this form have been identified as either weights (for mensuration) or playing pieces; in the latter case the inset may distinguish a particular piece, such as the King in Hnafetafl; red and white pieces were used for board-games of this period. Suggested date: Early Medieval, 720-1066.
