Object type: FINGER RING
Broad period: MEDIEVAL
County: Oxfordshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A copper alloy finger ring with evenly spaced moulded vertical lines. The ring is made from a length of copper alloy which has then been bent round and joined - the band is now misshapen and broken. Simple rings like this are hard to date as they were made from the Roman to post-medieval periods, although this example may be later medieval - post-medieval in date. In its current form the ring measures 22mm diameter, 4.62mm wide and is 0.70mm thick. It weighs 1.3gms.

Object type: WEIGHT
Broad period: ROMAN
County: Suffolk
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A large cast lead steelyard weight of Roman or later date. It is conical in form with a flat circular base and has the remains of an iron suspension loop visible at the top of the cone. The exterior surfaces appear slightly faceted as if smoothed off during production, and there is evidence of post-depositional damage. The weight measures 53.93mm in diameter at base, 38.29mm in height, and weighs 367g. This weight might date as early as the Roman period, although might equally be of Medieval or later date.
