Cast copper alloy brooch. Roman. 1st century AD. Hod Hill type bow brooch. Broken horizontally above the head, so no hinge or pin survive. The head is 14mm wide and 11mm long. It is slightly curved with horizontal ribbing. The bow is 6mm wide and is typically straight. A collar separates the horizontal ribbed plate and the flat, plain bow. The bow widens gradually from 4mm to 8mm. The foot is straight and 10mm wide. The catchplate is openwork, with three holes arranged in a triangle at the widest point. The head tapers down to the bow (4mm in diameter), which curves at a 90degree angle and continues down vertically towards the foot. Medieval coin weight, c.16mm in diameter and weighing 2.87g. It is uniface and exceedingly worn. Obverse: King standing in ship with sword and ?sloping shield, rose on hull Reference: Withers probably 208b but the condition of the weight makes definition of type uncertain This is a representational weight for a half ryal or rose noble minted for Edward IV between 1465 and 1470/1. The half ryal weighed 60 grains so this weight has lost 26% of its fabric through wear and corrosion.

Copper alloy pennanular brooch. Early Roman. 1st century BC-1st century AD. The ring is circular in section, is 2.5mm in diameter, and narrows towards the terminals. The terminals are coiled upwards. The pin is present and is circular in section with a sharp tip. The pin flattens at the point where is is coiled onece around the ring. The pin is free-moving. The ring is mis-shapen. This type of pennanular brooch with coiled terminals is termed the Type C by Fowler. This type date to later than those with bulbous terminals. Two fragments from the cast copper-alloy shell/casing of a medieval steelyard weight; the shell would have been filled with lead. Both fragments are irregular shapes, but curved: one presumably the base of the globular shell (52.3 by 48.6 by c. 5.3mm; Wt.: 61.21g) and one side element with moulded shield (45.5 by 39.5 by c. 5.8mm; Wt.: 45.79g). The 'base' fragment features a couple of moulded anomolies, possibly letters. The shield of the other fragment is sub-triangular with a flat top and curved sides. Six raised pellets, 3mm in diameter and rasied 1mm above the disc, arranged in a circle with one pellet on the centre. An inwardly curved border of copper alloy connects each pellet (not the central pellet) to create a star pattern. The inner field is filled with red enamel. Fragment from a cast copper alloy vessel with a copper alloy sheet repair dating to the late Medieval or Post medieval period (1450-1700 AD). It is sub-rectangular in plan and rectangular in cross-section. The vessel is undecorated and slopes slightly inwards. The inner side is smooth while the outer surface is rough. There is a copper alloy sheet repair on one side which is held in place by a rivet. It has a dark green patina.

A copper alloy Early Anglo-Saxon cruciform brooch. it is complete except for its pin. The head has a full-round top knob sitting on a waisted stem attached to the head-plate which is rectangular. There are two narrow wings attached to either side of the central panel. The headplate measures 8.37mm in length and 10.97mm in width. The bow is semi-circular in profile, and widens at its centre to 11.72mm. A raised border, 1.2mm wide, runs around the outer edge of the disc. An inner circle, 2mm wide, leaves a central field 4.5mm in diameter. Within the outer field are 8 raised pellets. Cast copper alloy disc brooch. Roman. 2nd century AD. Disc brooch is 26mm in diameter and 1mm thick. Two concentric circles decorate the face, slightly raised to create fields for enamel. The inner ring is twice as thick (2mm) as the outer ring and border. The enamel fields are 0.5mm deep. No enamel survives. The reverse is blank. The hinge and catchplate partially survive up to 3mm high. The pin is missing. The brooch is slightly bent due to post-depositional damage. A simialr example can be seen in Hattatt, Iron Age and Roman Brooches, Fig. 521.
