An incomplete cast copper alloy hooked strap fitting of probable post-Medieval date (1500-1700).
When complete the fitting would have been sub-triangular in plan. It is sub-rectangular in cross-section, but the hook part is sub-oval in cross section. At the incomplete end it would have had openwork in the shape of a heart or trefoil. Below this part there are two knops extending outwards horizontally. These are divided by a central rivet hole that contains the remains of a corroded iron rivet. The body of the fitting is relatively flat and the hook is an integral part of the object…
