A cast copper alloy unidentified Roman object. The object has a moulded arm which is oval in section. The central portion is rounded and has moulded collars at each terminal. One terminal of this arm appears to enclose an iron shank and which stains the copper alloy. The iron appears to be incomplete or more likely fragmentary. The opposite terminal of the copper alloy arm has an asymmetrical ‘C’ shape with both terminals being broken. The exterior of this portion of the object is decorated with a ‘V’ shaped groove. The pinecone is solid cast, circular in section and piriform in profile, with deeply indented lines running down the sides, the lines are in two sets each running in parallel and spiralling slightly leaving raised lozenges between the lines, as on a pinecone. The base is rough where there is presumably an old break.
