A fragment of a cast copper alloy nut cracker dating 18th-19th century. This fragment is part of one of the handles with the clamp part and hinge missing due to a break. The main part of the handle is ‘S’-shaped in side view and ’D’-shaped in cross-section. It straightens and becomes circular in cross-section. This part is decorated with two pairs of collars divided by a baluster moulding. A patina has not survived and the metal is a reddish crimson colour. Roman (2nd century) cast copper alloy and enamel plate brooch with zoomorphic terminal. The central plate is sub-rectangular in plan with the two side edges being concave. The surface is divided into four sections, two being triangular and two being elongated ‘C’ shapes (one is inverted) following the sides of the plate. Each of these sections are recessed and contain traces of orange enamel, the remaining areas are covered in corrosion products. The reverse of the plate is plain and undecorated. Probably a Medieval iron bearded axe. These were cheaply made and popular, widely available general-utility tools owned by many. As can be seen on this example, the socket was form simply by folding the tail of the axe over and welding it against one cheek to form a loop. The blade is sub-triangular in shape, with a sharpened curved edge. Dating for these seems vague as they were probably used throughout much of the Medieval period and maybe even earlier, but it probably dates from c.1000-1500 AD. Three joining fragments of a cast silver thimble of later 17th century date comprising six remaining tiers of pits above a notched and a plain band. The separately-applied dome is missing. Only 'M', the first letter of an engraved motto, survives. The maker's stamp comprises a heart shape which contains the letters IB above a star.

Cast copper alloy pot leg and foot with an old break at the attachment end. The leg is triangular in profile widening towards the foot and rectangular in section with a central rib on the concave front. When the foot is flat the leg sits at c.100 degrees. The foot is trapizoid with a wider front than back and the central rib on the front flattens out just above the base. There are traces of sooting on all but the broken sides. It is 32.7mm tall, 39.4mm wide, 20.4mm thick at the base and weighs 93 grams. Crude cast copper alloy cooking vessels were popular from c.1250-1650 AD.
