An incomplete cast copper alloy socketed axehead of Late Bronze Age date (1150 BC-800 BC). The lower part of the axe, the cutting edge and part of the socket are intact and the upper part of the socket and mouth are missing due to old and recent breaks. From the breaks the sides flare outwards towards the evenly curving cutting edge which has blunt blade tips. At the centre of the cutting edge, the distance to the bottom of the socket is 29.0mm. The socket is sub-oval in cross-section and there is a casting seam along each of the narrower sides. Both seams appear have been flattened…
