Medieval copper alloy steelyard weight fragment. The weight is represented by a fragment of the copper alloy outer casing only and has a surviving height of 52.8mm, a surviving width of 45.9mm and has a weight of 44.66g. The casing has a thickness of 2.6mm. The casing has an embossed heraldic shield device comprising a lion rampart within a square topped shield. Medieval steelyard weights were made of latten (copper, zinc, lead and tin) and had a lead core. Post Medieval(1500-1800 AD) cast lead alloy two part seal. Only the seal survives, the tab is missing from an old break. The seal is a formed of a disk with a central cone which is pushed through a second disk with a central hole and then stamped flat, sealing them together. Only part of the stamped flat part remains. It appears to a symbol, now unclear, above the letters EG. It is 20.1mm in diameter, 3.9mm thick and weighs 6.67 grams. Post Medieval (1600-1800) cast lead alloy (pewter) candle snuffer. The snuffer is conical with eight facets. It is damaged at the top where it would have probably terminated with a knop. The bell of the snuffer is undecorated but the base has a decorative border formed of a raised collar between two raised lines. There is a triangular handle with a square cross section attached at one end only and with a casting seam down its lengh. Medieval copper alloy English jetton. The obverse has a arrangement of three cinqfoil flowers and three pellets, the reverse has a cross moline with one pellet in each quarter; both have a border of pellets. There is a central circular piercing. Mitchiner (1988) illustrates a similar jetton (232ff. p. 115) which is described as contemporary with sterling bust jettons (c. 1280-1343 AD)
