Fragment of a penannular ring comprising a gold foil cover over a base metal core. The piece is very worn but traces are visible of the original striped decoration of yellow and paler gold.
Maximum surviving dimension 16mm; diameter of hoop 5mm; weight 2.54 grams.
The piece is a well known Bronze Age type, decorative in character, dating to circa 1150-750 BC.
The item qualifies as Treasure under the Designation Order 2002, in that it is of prehistoric date and part of the object is precious metal.

A damaged and incomplete cast copper-alloy Colchester brooch dating to the late Iron Age to early Roman period (c. 25 - c. 60 AD). A one-piece example, it retains its rearward facing hook at the top of the head, although this has been bent round on itself and also to one side. The hook holds the external chord of the spring. On the side from which the spring emerges three-and-a-half coils survive. On the other side the axis bar/spring has been broken and twisted; the pin has been lost. An incomplete probable post medieval (1500-1700) cast lead alloy (pewter?) pinhead. The fragment consists of a sub-spherical decorated pinhead (terminal) which tapers to a stem which is broken close to the head. This damage is relatively old as a patina has developed over the break. The pin head is solid being cast in one piece and all remains of the casting seams have been carefully trimmed from the surface.
The fragment measures 16.5mm length, 14mm diameter, and weighs 12.67 grams.

Cast copper-alloy double loop trapezoidal buckle. Buckles of this type date to between circa 1570-1700. The buckle has flared corners and protusions either side of the strap bar. A pin is missing. The metal is a mid greyish-green in colour and pitted. Parallels for this type of buckle can be seen in Whitehead, 2003, p82.

A copper-alloy seal matrix with a tall circular-section handle on which are three collars. The wide terminal is pierced by a suspension hole 7.3mm long. The engraved design on the face is very worn and little can be made out. What little can be seen appears abstract.

An incomplete cast copper alloy buckle, which is heavily corroded. The buckle is rectangular, with square projections on the short edges. The longer edges have been decoratively moulded. The separate spindle is missing. The frame is pitted and corroded. The metal is a mid reddish-brown colour. This buckle is post-medieval in date.

Medieval annular brooch (diameter 17mm), oval-sectioned, two animal-heads project forward from frame, both facing clockwise, with triangular snouts, deep splayed dots for eyes, pecking representing fur or scales and prominent ears, constriction on frame for missing pin. Cf. a very similar although slightly larger example from Fransham discussed and illustrated in Ashley (2006), pp.106-7, fig.1, no.7. 12th-early 13th century.

Half of a cast copper alloy double looped trapezoidal buckle frame, with rounded ends and rounded knops on the corners of the frame. The pin is missing. The strap bar terminates with lobed protrusions on either end. The buckle is a mid reddish-brown colour and the surface is heavily pitted. These buckles date from circa 1600 - 1700. Parallels for this type of buckle can be seen in Whitehead, 2003, p83.
