Cast copper alloy brooch of Colchester derivative, Polden Hill (Mackreth 2011, Part 3, Transitional Type, Group 3, flat wing ends, Pength 39mm, width 20mmlate 45) Manufactured middle Severn Valley. l,g. Semi-cylindircal wings with a reward facing lug on either end, the lugs have a hole in the centre which would have held the spring support bar, stepped shoulder flank the head, small ring decoration covers the head. The leg narrows to a point, remains of a catch plate on the reverse. The artefact is in a good condition retaining most of its original patina. Thickness 18mm, weight 14.…

Cast copper alloy seal matrix diameter 18.5mm, thickness 6mm, weight 3.77g. circular seal matrix with a foliage pattern in the centre flanked by two indeterminate objects, this is surrounded by the inscription S[ ]PIUN[.]NE[.]WOT. On the reverse a crest runs down the centre with a loop at one end, this loop is broken. The seal is heavily corroded obscuring most of the detail.
